Taking an intriguing approach to being a three-piece, The Retrospective Soundtrack Players – as their name suggests – sees the band performing works based on their favourite films, books, and other interests. Their big break came when they won a competition to feature as an unsigned artist on Frank Turner's Try This At Home 7” and digital single and were subsequently signed by Xtra Mile. Working on songs written about frontman Kyle's favourite film Cool Hand Luke - in a single week as a challenge - their first album was released in 2011. They toured extensively in support, as wellas playing several Xtra Mile nights, including the all-day festival Lexapalooza.
