Having drawn a curtain on his heavy past with Canadian Christian melodic hardcore band Means, Matt Goud, from Saskatchewan, has forged a new identity with Northcote. Retaining that anthemic passion while stripping back the histrionics, Goud's latest outlet fit perfectly into Chuck Ragan's notorious and celebratory Revival Tour in 2012. Unafraid to bolster his personal songwriting with brass, electric instruments, choirs of backing vocals, Northcote embrace every facet of solo songwriting grace. The band's eponymous follow up to their début, Gather No Dust, further embroiders Matt's songwriting finesse upon that closed curtain, bringing echoing atmospherics and his earthy, rooted growl a stage much more grand and widespread than anything he's done before.
