Mull Historical Society - Release new single ‘Must You Make Eyes At Me Now’ on August 20th on Xtra Mile Recordings
“Awash with comfort, joy and metropolitan dazzle.” – The Guardian

“A resolute, remarkable pop figure.” – The Independent

“On his richest form in years.” – Sunday Times Culture

“It’s 10 years since MHS were hailed as the next big thing, and with this album MacIntyre may finally repay those hopes.” 4/5 – Q

The resurrection of Mull Historical Society continues after the glowing reception that greeted the recent release of the ‘City Awakenings’ album at the start of the year. Next on the agenda for Mull Historical Society – singer-songwriter Colin MacIntyre – is a number of major festival dates and the August 20th release of the new single ‘Must You Make Eyes At Me Now’ on Xtra Mile Recordings.

Produced by the Grammy-winning Dom Morley (Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Grinderman) and taken from ‘City Awakenings’, ‘Must You Make Eyes At Me Now’ combines MacIntyre’s innate ability to fuse upbeat power-pop with yearning, melancholic lyrical themes.

Mull Historical Society recently returned to the stage with a show at Glasgow’s King Tuts which earned the praise of The Herald and BBC Scotland. Mull’s current touring schedule is as follows:

August

18th – V Festival
19th – V Festival

‘City Awakenings’ features ten MacIntyre compositions which offer a tribute to Glasgow, London and New York; the three cities which have most influenced the musician as an islander abroad. MacIntyre also co-produced the album closer ‘Thameslink (London's Burning)’, which he first performed on acoustic guitar at his father’s funeral (his father’s death inspired ‘Loss’).

“Cities have been an explosion of the senses to me,” says MacIntyre. “The songs are breezy pop, some are widescreen things, and some are more minimalist, punchy tales of finding yourself in the city, leaving them, arriving in them, burning them, living in them, and what it’s like for a child to see one of them for the first time. I remember that. They are mostly upbeat songs about people living their lives."

MacIntyre is currently in the process of making some unique plans for Mull Historical Society to conclude 2012 with. Further information on those plans will be announced as they’re confirmed.
