Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun

Following on from an epic touring schedule that has seen Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun on the road since January both headlining their own UK tour and as support to the Dropkick Murphy’s huge East Coast America tour – they can now announce news of their next single.

‘Home/Hospitals’ backed with fan favourite ‘England’s Dead’ will be digitally released on 8th July 2013 through Xtra Mile Recordings – and both tracks perfectly showcase the band’s intriguing songwriting craft and knack for catchy melodies with all-out rock riffs. They are the latest tracks to be taken from their critically applauded album ‘Death’ released last year through Xtra Mile Recordings.

The single coincides with the band’s set at their home town festival – 2000trees which is held on 11th – 13th July 2013. Not only will they be ripping up the Main Stage on the Friday afternoon but they’ll be performing an intimate and exclusive acoustic set as part of the Xtra Mile Recordings takeover of the GreenHouse stage. More information to follow.

The rest of 2013 is shaping up just as nicely with a summer filled with festival appearances, another UK headline tour scheduled for September and some further plans to go back Stateside for more shows and the North American release of the album ‘Death’. As well as all that, the band are writing brand new material the first fruits of which will surface towards the end of the year.

2012 was a great year for Jim Lockey &The Solemn Sun. Following a phenomenal summer that saw them play a storming set at the 2000trees Festival packing out the tent; they were Radio 1’s Zane Lowe ‘Next Hype’; toured the full length of the UK with Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls on their sold out tour and performed live alongside Frank at the Olympics Opening Ceremony to an estimated audience of 25million people.
