The Retrospective Soundtrack Players

Taking their name literally, The Retrospective Soundtrack Players perform entire sets of songs based on their favourite films, books and stories. After winning a competition while unsigned to have a song included on Frank Turner's ‘Try This At Home’ 7” and digital single, they were signed by Xtra Mile in 2010. Working on songs written about frontman Kyle's favourite film Cool Hand Luke - in a single week, as a challenge - their first album was released in 2011. They toured extensively in support, as well as playing several Xtra Mile nights, including the all-day festival Lexapalooza. In 2012, we released The Catcher In The Rye. They played the main stage of 2000trees festival in 2013, as well as playing with our very own Ben Marwood, before packing away Holden Caulfield for a festive Christmas album It’s A Wonderful Christmas Carol. Featuring the voices of Frank Turner, Chris T-T and Ben Marwood, the Xtra Mile love-in also contained some of their best songs yet. Now on hiatus, we hope that they return to show us how to love art in an all new way.
