Northern Irish quartet Brand New Friend soared out of Castlerock in 2015, signing with Xtra Mile in 2017, and releasing their debut album in 2018. It all happened so fast, but they were ready. Wrapped up in unabashed frenetic songs, Seatbelts For Aeroplanes evokes the stumbling and triumph of young love and the heart it takes to come out alright in the end. Their songs on record and live are all bright, incandescent guitars laying the path for delightful keyboard melodies and dual vocal harmonies from brother and sister Taylor and Lauren. It's all underpinned by passionate rhythm section pinning the ideas together and driving them all at once. It's a repertoire of fuzzed-up pop, with heart enough to fill yours up.
